Up to 10% of adults with hypertension fail to reach control despite ongoing treatment, making apparent treatment-resistant hypertension (aTRH) a common and stubborn driver of cardiovascular morbidity. Given the high prevalence of failed BP control and the associated harms, aTRH represents a major population health opportunity.
This session describes how a national cohort of more than half a million adults with linked clinical and claims data was assembled, and previews who these patients are, how they are treated and the extent to which inadequate control is associated with failure to deliver guideline concordant care.
